As a mama to two littles and a full-time job, the gym or a class felt impossible. I was a former marathon and felt like I’d never run again. I was also struggling with postpartum depression, and generally just figuring life out as a mama of two…which is hard. I was a shell of a woman, just getting by day-to-day.
And then one day, I finally said yes to a friend who invited me to join a virtual fitness challenge. I worked out at home, drank a superfood health shake, and learned about nutrition and portion control. I met an incredible group of positive women, all striving for the same thing I was – the best version of myself.
And now, I’ve completed many programs. I feel strong, confident, and can say I am in the best shape of my life – even more so than when I was running marathons. I’ve lost 25 pounds and 15 inches since I started.
a mindset shift
But the best part about discovering physical fitness is that it gave me the bravery and confidence to lead a life that I deeply desired. I was living the life I thought I should live – a life of accomplishment, achievements, and climbing the ladder – but in reality, I was a burned-out mom, barely getting by. My kids and husband were getting what was left of me, not the best of me.
And now I can truly say that I am authentically me, living my best life. Because of coaching, my life is better – my relationships, my mindset, and of course – my health. And – your health is the foundation for everything and anything good in life.

From the age of 9, up until I graduated college, I was part of an organized sports team. I ran D1 track and field. I was constantly working out in a structured environment and could essentially eat whatever I wanted. I never had to think about fitness and nutrition for myself.
My 20s were a roller-coaster of highs (running half marathons) and lows (feeling out of shape) – I couldn’t stay consistent or form good habits. I wasn’t willing to acknowledge that being a 20-year-old D1 athlete is different than being a young professional in a corporate desk job.
I had been “trying to get back in shape” for 8 years before joining Mel. Granted, I had a twin pregnancy in there at the end, but that doesn’t excuse the other 7 years. I am now in a place with my fitness that I wasn’t reaching on my own or with a personal trainer at a commercial gym. I am making smarter food choices. I am happier. I have more energy. In addition, I’ve found a new team of women that inspire me every day.
This isn’t for everyone. That is 100% true. But just try it. The worst-case scenario is that you find out it isn’t for you. But… best-case scenario, you find something that totally works and you wonder why you didn’t try it out sooner.

Using this meal planner has helped me take the stress out of “what are we going to eat tonight?” and has saved me money because I’m only purchasing for what I’m going to make.
